Keith Jones
"Bakersfield, Bakersfield, Bakersfield, what can I say its a love/hate relationship". Keith Jones is the Traffic Reporter/Better Bakersfield Show Host for 29 Eyewitness News/Fox 58. Keith was born and raised in Bakersfield. From childhood he always had the desire to move, explore, see other people and places. After being schooled locally at schools like Stockdale Christian, Planz Elementary, Greenfield/Thompson Jr. high, and South High School Keith embarked upon the great opportunity to attend college @ an H.B.C.U, Alabama A&M University. In 2002 Keith received his B.A. degree in Mass Communications/T.V. Production minoring in Marketing.
In 2004 he returned to Bakersfield California because "After all this is home." While working in a successful "Corporate America" sales career Keith got the deep conviction to pursue his passion. Now, not knowing what that exactly entailed he rooted himself back into communication broadcasting which was a passion of his since the age of twelve. At 14 years old Keith became a camera operator for his church's (St. John Missionary Baptist) broadcast ministry. At 17 he was producing and directing the broadcast regularly. Before joining the 29 Eyewitness News/Fox 58 team Keith worked for KUVI UPN TV 45 in Bakersfield, WZDX FOX 54 in Huntsville Alabama, and KERN News Talk 1410 in Bakersfield. Now, even though his knowledge, education, and skill sets are in the technical "behind the scenes" aspects of broadcasting Keith has always been told he had a nice voice, and nice smile. Let him talk about it and he says "I just have to many teeth so God had to make a big enough head and mouth to fit them suckers". After long thought/prayer, submission.... and being broke God blessed him with the opportunity to produce live talk radio and news report. Once the mics turned on Keith was hooked. A deep desire to share his personality and presence made it crystal clear that on air broadcasting brought out passion, excitement, fun, and challenges he wanted/needed in a career. After auditioning for the position at 29 Eyewitness News/Fox 58 Keith immediately felt an excitement like none other and openly says that was the most fun he had ever had on a job interview. Thankfully Keith's personality was the right fit for the broadcast and on February 1st 2008 Keith began a hopefully long and exciting relationship with the viewing audience. Keith says "God is so good to us he truly hears prayers and knows the hearts of his children. Be faithful and obedient and sit back and watch him work." "We spend 75% of our adult lives working, so shouldn't you thoroughly enjoy what you do, have it come easy to you, and oh by the way get paid for it?" You can email Keith at kjones@eyeoutforyou.com |
