Thanks to these sisters and teachers Sandra Aguire and Esther Medina students will get the chance to hit up the big stage. There has never been fine arts classes at Redwood Elementary until now. Sandra Aguirre & Esther Medina, "We've never had anything at this school, were in need of costumes, cordless mics, sets, just the costumes to make the props! With the grant, students will learn to be creative through the art of performing, singing and dancing. But this after school drama class will also help students with their reading and writing. Sandra Aguirre & Esther Medina, "I see them developing their social and communication skills. And the students say they're excited about the grant. Gaqueline Guerrero, First Grade Student, "Cause we can get costumes and we can get into character so we can put them on and will know how to get into character." Both teachers say there's a desperate need in the community to develop a program like theirs that stimulates students academically and socially. Sandra Aguirre & Esther Medina, "We feel that you are helping us cultivate memories that will be memorable forever and ever and ever in their lives." Once all the costumes and props are purchased students will get to perform in front of parents, students, teachers, and the entire community throughout the school year. The first performance will be the "Gingerbread Man" on February 14th. |
