Maricopa has new police chief

Maricopa has new police chief

Rimppi Rai, Reporting

Maricopa Police Department has a new Chief of Police after one of it's veteran officers was arrested for having sex with three minors in Kings County.

Officer Gary Ferguson was arrested over the weekend and now sits in a Kings County jail.

Tuesday Paul Stotesbury accepted the position of chief after the previous chief Michael Taylor resigned.

Michael Taylor was part of the original group of people that formed this department only two years ago.

City Manager bob Wilburn tells Eyewitness News that Chief Michael Taylor didn't leave due to the current investigation, but has accepted a position in Alabama where he lived prior to moving to Maricopa.
