An update now to an investigation 29-Eyewitness News was first to bring you about several sex offenders living at a local motel. According to the California Department of Corrections, about 15 paroled sex offenders will be living here in the "El Don" motel at 800 South Union Avenue.

Since our investigation we recived a tip about a licensed day care center within 900 feet of the el don and four hundred feet from another motel housing sex offenders. We called the office of Senator George Runner who co-authored Jessica's Law. They say there is nothing in Jessica's Law that prevents sex offenders from living near a day care facility. However, local lawmakers can amend the law to include such facilities.

We called the Kern County Sheriff's Department who told us there are no such local laws at this point. We will continue to follow this story and let you know if anything else develops.
