Investigations
Right Tree, Right Place??Bernadette Flores, ReportingSome concerned residents called our tipline wondering why city workers are cutting down trees around their neighborhood. 29-Eyewitness news reporter Bernadette Flores spent the day getting answers and joins us now live from that neighborhood with what she found out. First they cut their way thru it, before grinding it all down, all before sweeping them up and away. 111 trees over the next two weeks are coming down throughout this neighborhood. The Bakersfield department of parks and recreation says its trying to put the right tree in the right place. Those big trees have uprooted sidewalks, damaged underground irrigation pipes, and even broken thru nearby walls. Hoover says they'll be replaced with trees that do fit into the space. But that's still not good news for Morasca who didn't know new trees would be coming in. The city says they will be planting those new trees within the next two weeks. |
